Our Workshops Don't Change Who Students Are. They Expand What They Believe Is Possible.

Five Points Film Institute exists to transform passionate young creatives into confident filmmakers. Through immersive, professional-grade production experiences, we build technical skills, creative vision, and industry readiness — in communities that have historically been locked out of these careers.

From one-week intensive camps to a full 10-month film academy — there's a pathway for every young storyteller, every season.

Spring Break Camp
April · 1 Week

An intensive 5-day production experience. Students dive into camera, lighting, sound, and post — all in one week. Perfect introduction to the film set environment.

June – August · 3 Sessions

Three 2-week sessions throughout the summer, each building on the last. Students shoot, direct, and edit their own short films with professional cinema gear.

A focused winter session where students bring creative stories to life before the new year. Hands-on storytelling from concept to final cut in just five days.

October – July · via Five Points Film Institute

Our flagship program. 50 students. A full academic year of professional film training. Students produce a complete short film for the festival circuit. This is where careers begin.

Students Explore the
Full Production Pipeline

Every student rotates through four professional film departments — the same structure used on real productions. Each department opens a different creative and technical pathway into the industry.

Camera
Visual Storytelling

Framing, movement, and composition. Students learn to operate professional cinema cameras, understand focal lengths, shot types, and how visual choices tell a story. They leave with a cinematographer's eye.

Grip & Electric
Lighting & Set Operations

How light shapes a scene, and how a crew makes it happen. Students rig softboxes, learn three-point lighting, and discover that every great image starts with intentional illumination and set control.

Sound
Professional Audio Capture

Great picture means nothing without great sound. Students operate boom microphones, lavalier mics, and audio recorders — learning to capture clean dialogue and developing a critical ear for production audio.

Post-Production
Editing & Finishing

Where a film comes to life. Students organize footage, make editorial decisions, and build a timeline using industry-standard tools. They learn the rhythm of storytelling and how edits create emotion.

AI Integration
Next-Generation Filmmaking Tools

The future of film is already here. Students explore AI-powered tools used by working professionals — from AI-assisted story development and storyboarding with Midjourney and Adobe Firefly, to video generation with Runway ML, audio cleanup with ElevenLabs, and AI-enhanced editing inside DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro. We don't teach AI as a replacement for craft — we teach it as a superpower layered on top of it.
